Beyond the policy

Risk Management Consulting

Contract review, certificate tracking, gap analysis, and claims advocacy — the work that lowers cost rather than moving it.

Risk management consulting is the part of this business that does not involve selling a policy. It is contract and lease review, certificate of insurance tracking, coverage gap analysis, claims advocacy, and experience modification review — the work that reduces what you spend on insurance rather than simply rearranging where you buy it.

What it actually covers

Contract & lease review

Reading the insurance requirements in your contracts before you sign them. Indemnification language, additional insured requirements, waiver of subrogation, and limits you may not be able to meet.

Certificate tracking

Collecting and monitoring certificates from your subcontractors, tenants, or vendors — and catching the ones that expire. This is where audit surprises come from.

Coverage gap analysis

A line-by-line read of what you have against what your operations actually expose you to. Free, and it does not require you to move the business.

Experience modification review

Verifying your workers' compensation mod is calculated correctly. Errors in reserve valuations and classification are common and correctable — and they compound over three years.

Claims advocacy

Representing your interests during a claim rather than handing you a phone number. Documentation, coverage position review, and pushing back when the position is wrong.

Pre-renewal strategy

Starting 90 days out with a plan, a complete submission, and a market strategy rather than a scramble in the final week.

Why this is separate from selling insurance

Most of what determines a business's insurance cost happens outside the quote. Classification codes, subcontracted cost documentation, experience modification, claims handling, and contract terms all move the number more than shopping the rate does — and none of them are addressed by getting three quotes.

A contractor who collects certificates properly and a contractor who doesn't will get very different audit results from the same policy at the same rate. An association board that reviews its declaration against its policy avoids a dispute that costs more than a decade of premium difference. That is the work.

Who it's for

  • Contractors managing subcontractor risk transfer and workers' compensation audits.
  • Property owners and lessors tracking tenant certificates and reviewing lease insurance requirements.
  • Association boards reconciling governing documents with the association's actual coverage.
  • Any business whose premium has moved sharply without an obvious reason.

How to start

Send your current declarations pages and we'll do a coverage review at no cost and no obligation. If your program is well built, we'll tell you that. If there are gaps, you'll get a specific list rather than a sales pitch.
